Description

This is a reproduction of Philip de Koninck's masterpiece, An Extensive Landscape with a Road by a River, of 1655. This Dutch Baroque painter lived his whole life in Amsterdam and he was thirty-six years old when he created this work. He may have been a pupil of Rembrandt. His landscapes are characterized by bright sunlit vistas from a high perspective that features much of the sky in the painting. He died in 1688. The original measures 54.09 by 66.02 inches. It is an oil on canvas and is in the National Gallery in London.
